The smell of the pines! Pinecrest Lake glistening in the sun! The fresh mountain air! The powdery snow on Dodge Ridge! Yes, Pinecrest is paradise! A popular destination year round, Pinecrest neighbors Dodge Ridge Ski Resort and hosts one of the most beautiful and easily accessible lakes in the Sierras. Recreation is abundant with swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, snow skiing, horseback riding, boating and more. Or maybe it is peace and quiet you are looking for. Look no more. You have arrived!

Things to do at Pinecrest Lake

Swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, snow skiing, horseback riding, boating and more.

Where to start? So many options for everyone in the family. Let’s start with Pinecrest Lake itself. The marina has a variety of boat rental options from kayaks to party barges or launch your own boat and take a stroll around the lake. Throw a line in and reel in a mountain Rainbow Trout. No water skiing will be found on this lake though. The pace is a little slower and tranquil.

Rent a bicycle or bring your own and meander around the streets and through the pines. Take a hike around the lake. This will take about three hours but what a way to take it all in!  Or just hang out on the beach soaking in the mountain sun and frolicking in the water. Just a couple of minutes away is Aspen Meadows Pack Station  where the whole family can take in the grandeur of the Sierras on horseback! Now that sounds like fun!!

And when nightfall is upon you, stroll down to the Amphitheater for a movie under the stars. Is it Sunday morning? Stroll down and attend Sunday church services in the great outdoors!

If it is wintertime you are in luck! Dodge Ridge Ski Resort is right around the corner! There is a little something for every skill level here or maybe you’re the type to hang out in the lodge with a cup of hot cocoa, either way you are bound to enjoy!

The Steam Donkey at the Pinecrest Lake Resort is fun little getaway for cocktails and dinner out. Watch the raccoons play on the deck while enjoying a scrumptious dinner ranging from items such as Rack of Lamb, Rib Eye Steaks, Sautéed Shrimp, Teriyaki Chicken, juicy burgers and sumptuous salads.

A Premier Vacation Destination

This gorgeous piece of the Sierras has been hosting folks for centuries. Most people purchasing homes or cabins in this area are doing so for a place to vacation. However, some folks do reside there full time. If you don’t mind plowing snow throughout the winter then this could be the place for you. Although you’d probably rather just find the perfect little cabin to have family and friends come to visit. Many folks purchase these cabins and rent them out to other vacationers as a way to offset the expenses of holding another residence. This can be a excellent source of income during the times the cabin is not being used by you.

There is one aspect of the cabins in this area that is unlike any other real estate. These cabins are all situated on land owned by the U.S. Forest Service. The owners of the cabins own only the cabin. They hold leases on the land beneath the cabin and pay the Forest Service for the use of the land. If you would like more information on these types of cabins, be sure to contact me and I will explain the details and how you can become a cabin owner.
